Extra Curricular Activities
We offer a range of experiences, visits and trips as part of the curriculum. Towards the end of each term we work towards an authentic outcome in our Project Guerrilla lessons and parents/carers are often invited into school to be a part of these. Sometimes these outcomes involve the pupils going into the community e.g. to visit the Nursing Home.
In addition to these experiences, we also offer a range of extra curricular activities.
Each year using our PE and School Sports funding we host a variety of inspiring and engaging events to inspire our pupils to take part in physical activity and to get involved in sports they might not otherwise have the opportunity to try.
The following events take place each year:
- Year 2 Archery Workshops
- Year 3 Scooter Workshops
- Year 5 Urban Strides Dance Workshops
- Year 6 BMX Workshops
- Year 2 to Year 6 Football Skills Workshops
We run a residential visit for pupils in Year 5 and 6 once every two years. We visit Whitemoor Lakes near Lichfield. On this residential the children have the opportunity to take part in a range of outdoor adventurous activities including watersports.
Each year we run a Sport Week where all children across the school partake in a traditional Sports Morning or Afternoon competing against their peers in their House Teams.
We also organise other events throughout the year where children can complete against their peers. Sometimes these events are sports based and others are non-sports based e.g. our Annual Spelling Bee
As a member of the Mandeville School Sports Partnership we take part in the virtual Bucks MK Commonwealth Games Cup. Throughout this event each year group will get a turn to complete an activity, linked to a sport, to earn points for our school. This event runs from November through until February.
Throughout the year there will be other opportunities for us to take part in Festivals held by our School Sports Partnership as well as those organised by our School Games Organiser and those we organise ourselves with other local schools.
We run a variety of clubs throughout the year for pupils in Years 1 through to 6 and in the summer term for pupils in Reception.
After-school clubs run from 3:15 - 4:15pm and parents/carers collect pupils from the playground using the usual one-way system.
Some of these clubs are sports-based, others are non-sports based e.g. coding club, cookery, arts and crafts. There is sometimes a small charge frequested to enable us to run clubs e.g. to cover the cost of the ingredients for cookery.
In addition, we also invite selected pupils in before and after school to take part in booster sessions. These pupils have been identified as having some gaps in the knowledge and understanding and these clubs aim to provide targeted support to ensure these children reach their full potential.
